Serena Williams lost to a player outside of the world's top 100 for the first time in eight years after defeat to Shelby Rogers in the quarter-finals of the Top Seed Open in Lexington.
The 23-times Grand Slam winner smashed her way through the first set, taking it 6-1. But Rogers, the world No.116, bounced back for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6 victory.
