Harlequins to appeal after Saracens handed title boost
Harlequins will appeal an RFU decision to award Saracens five points after cancelling the originally postponed fixture between the Allianz Premier 15s contenders.
The match was due to be played on 2 January but was then moved to Saturday 20 February when the Quins squad had to isolate following a positive test in the camp. However, an investigation revealed Harlequins had failed to maintain Minimum Operating Standards with regards to outdoor training and awarded the points to Saracens, the result officially recorded as a 0-0 draw.
A club statement said: "Harlequins Women will appeal the RFU's sanction following the cancellation of the club's home fixture against Saracens Women.
"Harlequins note the decision and proposed sanction of the RFU’s Disputes Committee relating to Harlequins Women vs Saracens Women. The Club confirm that it is appealing the level of sanction and will make no further comment at this stage, pending the outcome of that appeal."
