Women's Super League review: Morgan's first goal helps Spurs to first win

American superstar Alex Morgan scored her maiden goal for Tottenham as the side finally secured a first victory of the season in the Women's Super League with a 3-1 win against Brighton.

Kerys Harrop gave Spurs an early lead only for Inessa Kaagman to equalise from the penalty spot. Angela Addison put the home side back in front before Morgan made her mark late on.

Arsenal closed back within a point of Manchester United at the top of the table thanks to a 3-0 victory against Birmingham. Fans were back but had to endure a goalless first half before Caitlin Foord, Jill Roord and Kim Little ensured victory.

Chelsea and Manchester City both kept the pressure up on the leaders with wins - Chelsea beating West Ham 3-2 whilst City won 3-0 at Everton. City's Caroline Weir served up a hat-trick of assists, laying on goals for Ellen White, Gemma Bonner and Janine Beckie.

Third-placed Chelsea had a less comfortable afternoon but Sam Kerr's hat-trick eventually ensured victory against the spirited Hammers.

On Saturday, Manchester United had extended their lead in the league by beating Aston Villa 2-0. However, the joy of victory was tempered by a nasty injury for Dutch international Jackie Groenen.
