Alex Scott: summer without women's sport "unacceptable"
Former England and Arsenal star, Alex Scott, has called a potential summer without women's sport unacceptable.
The Women's Super League has been cancelled and there is little prospect of the England women's cricket team appearing before September at the earliest.
However, the men's Premier League and Championship resume this week and Test cricket returns next month.
Scott told BBC Five Live: "That's frustrated me. Not even just women's football - women's sport has taken a back seat."
The TV personality is part of a "renewal task force" advising the government on how sport can return safely amid the coronavirus pandemic.
"I was saying last week that it's not acceptable," she added. "Women's sport in general has gained positive momentum and visibility for us does matter.
"But now we're going to go a whole summer of just watching men's sport again."
