Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema made Women's Super League history by becoming the first player to score 50 goals in the competition, overtaking the mark of 49 set by Nikita Parris.

A hat-trick in the 6-1 victory over Tottenham in the North London derby means the Dutch striker now has 52 goals in just 50 WSL appearances.

At the age of 24, Miedema is already the Netherlands' all-time leading scorer with 69 goals in 89 appearances.

"Her ability to be better is there. She can get better. She wants to get better," said Arsenal head coach Joe Montemurro. "She wants to challenge herself, she wants to be even better because there's still a lot of learning and development to go.

"I'm enjoying working with her and having her as part of the group, and as long as Viv's smiling we'll keep seeing a better Viv."
