Super Sciver returns with a match-winning display

Nat Sciver made a commanding return to the England Women’s Cricket team, as she scored a superb 90 in a dominant 142-run over the West Indies in the first One Day International of the Carribbean tour. 

Sciver missed the home series with India in September to prioritise her mental health and was imperious on her international return, smashing nine fours in a knock of 90 that came from just 96 balls. 

Danni Wyatt celebrated her 100th ODI with a powerful 60 from 68, as England set the West Indies a daunting target of 308 in Antigua. Tammy Beaumont (33) and new vice-captain Amy Jones (29) were the other significant contributors. 

After impressing with the bat, England were brutal with the ball. 

The Windies made a decent start to reach 84-1 but the momentum changed when Sciver ran out Rashada Williams for 34 and spinner Charlie took the first of her four wickets in the very next over. 

The home side lost their final six wickets for just 25 runs to end 142 runs short and a perfect opening to the new tenure under head coach Jon Lewis. 

Victory for England was also a welcome tonic after the sad news that all-rounder Alice Capsey will miss the rest of the tour with a broken collarbone.
