Red Roses welcome opportunity to be role models in more ways than one
England's Red Rose stars have welcomed the opportunity to be part of Umbro's kit launch for the national side following the controversy over Ireland's kit launch last month.
The Ireland kit supplier Canterbury was criticised for getting players to wear the men's kit in publicity shots but using models for the women's kit instead.
No such issues for England, where the likes of Shaunagh Brown and Sarah Hunter were used for the launch.
Referring to the launch on Twitter, Brown said: "Proud to be a part of the new Umbro Rugby kit launch. No nameless models required round here. [The] Irish women's jersey fiasco is a sad indictment of how international women's rugby is still treated."
Hunter added: "Great work from Umbro and England rugby, launching the new England kit using men’s and women’s players front and centre of the launch! Proud to be part of this and show little girls everywhere that they too can be rugby players!"
