City's new boss sets sights on trophies
Manchester City may have missed out on the Women's Super League title, despite being top of the league when the season was suspended, but new head coach, Gareth Taylor, wants to win trophies as soon as possible.
Taylor replaced Nick Cushing at the helm last month and knows he will be expected to build on his predecessor's legacy of six trophies in seven seasons in charge.
“I am under no illusions I need to be successful and I am confident I will be and I am going to need everyone’s support to do that,” Taylor told the Football Association's website.
The former City star started coaching in the men's academy in 2011 but this is his first move into management: "I feel, personally, I am ready for this moment. It is a big step up and responsibility and one I am thoroughly excited to getting started with."
Taylor has been taking every opportunity to learn from the City men's boss, Pep Guardiola: “I am a big fan of the first-team manager, I am fortunate enough to gain a glimpse of that on occasion and have some interactions with Pep.
"We are working hard behind the scenes, our backroom staff have done some amazing work finalising plans for the next few months and what they will look like, trying to keep the squad refreshed and stay interacting before the start of next season."
