ECB search for new opponents after South Africa withdraw from England tour
The England and Wales Cricket Board are determined to find new opponents for the England Women's team this summer despite the withdrawal of South Africa from their tour of the country.
The Proteas were due to play four one-day internationals and two Twenty20 matches in September but joined India in not being able to come to England due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
The ECB have been holding talks with the West Indies, whose men's side have already toured the country this summer, as they look for an alternative.
"Women's and girls' cricket is a huge part of the ECB strategy and despite the devastating impact of Covid-19, this ambition has not waned," said Clare Connor, managing director of women's cricket.
"We continue to explore all options to see England Women play competitively this summer."
