Women's Open Day 1 Review: Olson leads the way at windy Royal Troon
Amy Olson is the leader after the opening round of the AIG Women's Open at Royal Troon with a superb round of 67.
The American lies on four under par, three shots ahead of compatriot Marina Alex and Germany's Sophia Popov.
Olson was able to take advantage of better conditions in the early evening, whilst the morning starters had struggled in winds which reached gusts of 40 miles per hour.
Scotland's Catriona Matthew leads the home challenge having finished her round in a large group on level par.
However, it was generally a day of high scoring - Scottish Open winner Stacy Lewis shooting a 76 alongside England's Charley Hull, while former champion Laura Davies finished with a nine-over-par 80 on her 40th appearance at the event.
