Transfer News: Aston Villa sign Sporting Lisbon star

Aston Villa have strengthened ahead of the new Women's Super League season with the arrival of Portugal international Diana Silva.

The striker joins from Sporting Lisbon and is Villa's third summer signing alongside Chloe Arthur and Anita Asante. The club gained promotion to the WSL in June after winning the curtailed Champions season on points-per-game.

"We've picked up a young talent who's been doing very well with her national team," said Villa boss Gemma Davies. "We've been monitoring her progress since before lockdown and we're really excited that she's finally an Aston Villa player."
