Houghton out, James missing from England squad for France and Canada friendlies
England captain Steph Houghton will miss the Lionesses' fixtures against France and Canada in April as she continues her recovery from an Achilles injury.
Uncapped Niamh Charles has been named in Hege Riise's squad along with Millie Turner but there's no room for Turner's Manchester United teammate Lauren James.
Riise said: "She's a player that we follow [but] due to injury, playing time, and, of course, there's internal discussions around that, that I can't talk about."
There are recalls for experienced goalkeepers Carly Telford and Karen Bardsley as well as Arsenal winger Beth Mead, who was dropped for the recent friendly against Northern Ireland.
A coronavirus outbreak at parent club Lyon meant Nikita Parris was not considered for selection.
