Riise confirmed as Olympics coach for Team GB
Hege Riise has accepted the role of head coach for the Team GB football squad at the Tokyo Olympics, saying she is "honoured and humbled" to be asked to combine the task with her current position as England interim head coach.
The Norwegian former gold medallist took charge of the Lionesses on a temporary basis after Phil Neville left for Inter Miami. She will be assisted in Japan by fellow England coach Rhian Wilkinson with another coach to be appointed at a later date.
Riise told BBC Sport she believes a gold medal is a realistic goal: "Absolutely. That's the question that we need to ask the players as well, what do they believe we can achieve?
"Of course it is possible. Yes we can look to the USA and say they have more time together, but to our advantage, we can pick players from more nations. We can pick the best.
"If we can look at that big picture, it gives us something different from the others."
