Women's Super League review: Arsenal target top three as City maintain pace

Arsenal enjoyed a welcome return to form with a 4-0 victory at Aston Villa to keep in touch with the European places. The Gunners remain fourth but are now six points behind Manchester United with a game in hand as well as a fixture against United still to come.

All the goals came in the second half with Vivianne Miedema opening the scoring before further goals for Jordan Nobbs, Katie McCabe and Lisa Evans.

Manchester City beat Birmingham City by the same scoreline at St. George's Park. US star Sam Mewis scored twice with Lauren Hemp and Caroline Weir also on the scoresheet.

That is eight straight league wins, part of a run of 11 matches unbeaten for City who are now just two points behind Chelsea at the top.

Everton completed a hat-trick of away wins with a 3-2 victory at Tottenham. Valerie Gauvin scored twice inside the opening 20 minutes, but the Toffees had to survive a Spurs comeback before Jill Scott grabbed the winner.
