Women's Champions League review: winning start for English teams on the road
Chelsea and Manchester City both got off to a winning start in their Champions League campaigns after away vicories in the first leg of the Round of 32.
Two goals for Fran Kirby helped the striker pass Eni Aluko's goalscoring record for Chelsea as they eased to a 5-0 win over Benfica in Lisbon. It was also captain Magda Ericsson's 100th appearance for the club as Millie Bright, Pernille Harder and Beth England completed the scoring.
City found themselves behind after just two minutes against Gothenburg in Sweden. However, the FA Cup winners were able to recover thanks to strikes from Georgia Stanway and Sam Mewis to ensure a slender lead going into the second leg next week.
Glasgow City will need to overturn a 2-1 deficit following the first leg of their tie against Sparta Prague.
