Netball awarded vital funding as part of Sports Winter Survival Package
Netball has benefited from a £4 million cash injection from the government as part of a wider support package for elite sport to help get through the current coronavirus crisis.
The money, provided in the form of grants and long-term, low-interest loans, will be split equally between England Netball and Superleague Netball.
In total, the government has earmarked £300 million for sports including football below Premier League and EFL level, basketball, racing, rugby and tennis.
The Sports Winter Survival Package is designed to mostly help sports where spectators have yet to be allowed back in or where coronavirus has led to cancellation of matches or leagues.
"Clubs are the beating hearts of their communities - this boost will help them survive this difficult winter period," said DCMS minister Oliver Dowden.
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) statement added: "Preliminary allocations have been made on a needs-based assessment process and reflect the submissions made from the individual sports, and the funding process will be overseen by an independent decision-making board and supported by Sport England."
