FA Cup just the start for City as Taylor plans domestic domination
Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor wants to use his side's FA Cup victory as a springboard to further success this season. The 3-1 extra-time win over Everton at Wembley allowed City to lift the Cup for the third time in four years.
Due to the nature of this Covid-hit campaign, the 2020 FA Cup final was played two months into the 20-21 season and after next year's competition had already kicked off. Taylor now wants to become the first, and almost certainly only, manager to win the trophy twice in one year.
"I challenge the girls to make history and win the cup twice in one season. This just feels like it gives us an opportunity to create a platform to build from," he said.
As well as the Cup, Taylor and his team have ambitions to add further trophies, having finished runners-up to Chelsea in the curtailed Women's Super League.
"City have a reputation but we understand everybody else wants to be successful as well. This is new for a lot of the players and new for me. It takes time to bed in and hopefully this gives us a platform now to push on."
