Women's doubles players investigated for match fixing at the French Open
Paris prosecutors have confirmed they are investigating allegations of match fixing during a women's doubles match at the French Open.
According to BBC Sport, the focus of the enquiry is believed to be the first round tie between the Romanian pair of Andreea Mitu and Patricia Maria Tig who defeated Russia's Yana Sizikova and the American Madison Brengle 7-6 6-4.
Prosecutors decided the match showed signs of organised fraud but the investigation is expected to last several week.
Reports of suspicious activity started to surface in Russia last week. Alexei Selivanenko, vice-president of the Russian tennis federation said: "As long as there are no official documents, it is too early to comment on anything. Tennis has a zero-tolerance policy for cases of this kind."
