Women and girl's recreational rugby will look very different for the time being after details were revealed of the Rugby Football Union's plan for returning to play.

All community rugby will be 10-a-side with no scrums and a 'two touch' rule instead of tackling. According to The Times, the RFU has submitted a plan to the government which is expected to be approved this week once it is signed off by Public Health England.

At the moment, players below elite level are only allowed to train in small groups or individually. Even England and Premier 15s players are restricted to limited training.

Clubs and schools will be able to start playing friendly matches under the new rules until a return to the full version of the sport is approved. As things stand, the 10-a-side game will not replace league matches.

The full version of the sport is not expected to return for women before December at the earliest.
