Sevastova wins in front of fans in Germany
Anastasija Sevastova beat Petra Kvitova in the final of the Berlin hardcourt tournament, the first sporting event in Germany to be held in front of fans since the start of the pandemic.
The Latvian was the form performer of the week, beating three players ranked in the world's top 15 - Kiki Bertens and Elina Svitolina as well as Kvitova.
Although not sanctioned as a full WTA event, the tournament took place with a limited number of spectators allowed in and other social distancing measures in place.
Berlin was due to return to the WTA Tour this year for the first time since 2008 but a pre-Wimbledon grasscourt tournament was cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis.
