Women events could be first to see crowds return
The goverment are considering using the resumption of elite women's cricket and football as test events for crowds to return to mainstream sport in the UK.
According to The Times, England's proposed cricket tri-series against India and South Africa and the new Women's Super League season could be the first action played in front of fans since the lockdown started in March. Men's elite football and cricket have already returned behind closed doors.
There are no confirmed dates for women's sport to return but the government is keen to support women's events and sees allowing crowds back in as a way of easing the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
