European giants launch Real Madrid Femenino

Real Madrid have launch their first-ever women's team, which will compete in the Spanish top flight.

The club bought out Madrid side Tacon for €300,000 (£271,000) and have rebranded them as Real Madrid Femenino. 

They are one of the last major European sides to launch a women's team and will face a fight for immediate success from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid who have far more established squads. 

Tacon were formed in 2014 and won promotion to Spain's top league last season.
