Serena Williams hoping for US Open return
Six-times champion, Serena Williams, wants to play at this year's US Open despite strict restrictions at Flushing Meadow due to the coronavirus crists.
A number of stars have expressed unease at travelling to New York for the tournament which is due to start on 31 August, including Simona Halep, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios.
Williams' agent, Patrick Mouratoglou, told BBC Radio 4: "She's definitely come back to tennis to win Grand Slams [following the birth of her daughter in 2017], that's her goal. So the US Open will be a first opportunity to win one."
The player, who has won 23 Grand Slam titles, reached the US Open final last year and took the Auckland Open title in January before losing in the third round of the Australian Open.
However, her participation is still far from certain. "There'll be a lot of restrictions and I have to speak with her to see if she will be able to accept and manage those expectations," Mouratoglou added.
